On this new island of yours
paths of sunlight smile
then charge into night.
Here our feeble echoes
wander, only to ask:
How long can a human
heart endure such falls
so many dogged throws
of the dice? Everywhere
we look, we see your face.
Every time you lift the mask
another stranger stares back.
Soon the shoreline will contract
its lips, swallowing all in a kiss.
